The Challenge

 

 

A Dead-End Approach

Over the next decade, humans will produce and use a staggering one trillion tons of material—a rate that is simply unsustainable. In fact, the materials and products humans choose to produce and consume over the next several decades will determine our future and the condition of our planet. Over 91% of the products we currently produce are not re-used. And the materials we do produce in large quantities are often not used productively or are misused. The good news? There is a much better way.

Stop Burning Through Resources

One of the primary solutions is to use abundant waste sources, such as agriculture crop waste, animal waste, and organic municipal waste to produce products of value. Agriculture waste production (crop and animal waste) alone is projected to reach more than 12 billion tons per year by 2030. Unfortunately, agriculture crop waste is often burned, resulting in adverse environmental and human health impacts, and animal waste disposal can be highly destructive to the environment.

Humankind Biomass Systems provides solutions that transform various waste streams into sustainably produced and commercially valuable products. Specifically, we deliver comprehensive programs and production facilities that transform waste into renewable energy and soil amendment products.

One example is our revolutionary use of anaerobic digestion, an efficient process through which bacteria breaks down organic matter—agricultural waste, animal manure, food waste, etc.—in the absence of oxygen. Anaerobic digestion is not a new idea, but our proprietary technology and processes harness the power of anaerobic digestion in a unique way, producing an array of valuable products that not only benefit our air, soil, and water but also have a significant impact on human health and wellbeing.
